Bairds Malt Limited Black Malt is used in the production of very dark beers or simply darkening beer color by applying a small amount during the sparging process. The flavor, as might be expected, is a more intense version of Chocolate malt with a notable artigency to its character.

Bairds Malt Limited DISTILLING MALT is created for the world’s finest whisky distillers, we pride ourselves on producing one of the defining key ingredients. Two-row spring malting barley with vigorous and even germination are malted at one of our four UK malthouses. Located all along the Eastern Seaboard of the UK, the majority of our barley is sourced from local UK growers, ensuring a lower carbon footprint and a consistency in quality. Two-row spring malting barley with low protein delivers a high extract and fermentability which combine to provide the optimal level of spirit yield per ton of malt.

Bairds Malt Limited MEDIUM CRYSTAL malt roast are able to fine-tune the process to produce Crystal malts with a distinctive flavor. Whether it’s the rich golden color that you require or the classic sweet, caramel and raisin flavors, you will find our expert roasters create the perfect balance.

Bairds Malt Limited AMBER MALT offers both toasted and biscuity notes. Whilst bringing a dark reddish brown hue to the beer color, it has less sweetness than some roasted other malts with a residual crisp dryness in terms of mouthfeel. A versatile roasted malt, you could consider this the Brut of the IPAs.

Bairds Malt Limited PALE ALE MALT is one of a range of 5 Pale Ale Malts that we produce, and one of our most popular brewing products. Working closely with our in-house barley merchants, we help identify low protein, farm-sourced spring barley that boosts any brewer’s extract potential. This malt imparts a golden color and rich malty flavor to the wort, which ensures a perfect backbone for any hop character and is a perfect malt choice for a range of brewing products including ales, porters and stouts. Pale ale malt is made from a spring variety to produce a base malt full of character and flavor. Our maltsters are skilled at creating well-modified malts with distinct color and flavor characteristics to form the basis for some of the best ales in the UK and beyond.

Bairds Malt Limited Dark Crystal Malt is part of the Dark Beer lexicon. Used delicately, it will help to achieve a darker color in the final beer through its notable rich brown hue.

Maris Otter blend is made from at least 75% Maris Otter to maintain the classic characteristics of this heritage variety. By the request of brewers we created a Maris Otter blended malt, mixed with our Standard Pale Ale malt to capture the essence of the variety in a more cost-effective manner.
