The antimicrobial properties of hop acids against gram positive bacteria have been known and used in the brewing industry for more than a millennium and constitute a legitimate naturally derived alternative. Furthermore, hop acid extract (BetaTec’s IsoStab®) have been successfully used in dry mill and wet mill ethanol plants since 2004. More recently, BetaTec has developed a new proprietary hop extract product called FermaHop® Pro. FermaHop Pro exhibits high stability and activity against lactic acid bacteria in a broad pH spectrum. The newly developed product can also be added to the yeast propagation tank and/or to the fermentation vessel, to inhibit the growth of lactic acid bacteria during the production of ethanol and entirely avoid the need for antibiotics or hazardous chemical use.

LactoStab

Vitahop® is a range of natural hop extracts, ideal for the production of bioethanol from a range of raw material feedstocks, as they protect yeast from bacterial growth, and their acid byproducts, during fermentation processes. When used as part of a planned process regime with regular additions, bacterial infections do not develop and spoil yeast fermentations. When infections do develop, they can quickly get out of control and disrupt production, potentially causing substantial losses and lost revenue. By controlling bacteria and preventing bacterial growth, catastrophic infections can be a thing of the past.

Hop Acid 30% active solution. Recommended for the production of seed yeast. Working optimum pH range: (pH 2.5 – 4.5)
