Applications & Uses

Coating Type
Application and Performance
  • D-130 (SI28) Silane that can be applied neat, diluted or as part of a formulated product. Applied to natural stones or other construction materials, it forms a silica-gel like binder (SiO2) that increases the substrate strength.
  • Polymerization of silicone resins for use in paints and other surface modification applications intermediate for sol-gel process.
  • For the manufacture of sealant materials RTV-2, D-130 (SI28) can be used as a cross-linking agent.
  • On glass and plastic lens materials, D-130 (SI28) silane provides a scratch-resistant, hard-coat to the finish.

Reactivity

Tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) will react with moisture to form a silica-gel like binder and ethanol byproduct which evaporates.

Storage & Handling

Product Handling and Storage

The “Best use before end” date of each batch is shown on the product label. Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
