Cantol Bio-Drain

Cantol Bio-Drain contains a balanced blend of several natural strains of aerobic (bacteria requiring oxygen) and anaerobic (bacteria requiring no oxygen to live) high enzyme producing bacteria [which are nonpathogenic (nonharmful) and non-toxic], plus a powerful deodorant and a biodegradable organic solvent. The ready-to-use 100% active bacteria, when introduced into a waste system, revive, feed, reproduce and generate high amounts of enzymes in the form of Amylase, Protease, and Lipase, that digest organic waste matter. In addition, a powerful, hard-working deodorant is added to overcome and control even the toughest waste odors. A biodegradable organic solvent is added to initially help liquefy organic waste. This added solvency is especially effective in dissolving soil that clings to the sides of pipes and drains. Cantol Bio-Drain is used on a regularly established schedule to replace cultures (bacteria) that are washed away or that die off after completing their function. When used according to directions, Cantol Bio-Drain breaks down protein, grease, fats, sugars, starches, and other organic waste, thus reducing solids and BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) while controlling odors. A portion aid is provided for accurate dispensing from liters and gallons while a compact automatic feeding and the proportioning device is available to dispense Cantol Bio-Drain from drums. Superior enzyme-producing bacteria cultures plus a hard-working deodorant and solvent system equals an effective waste treatment system in the form of Cantol Bio-Drain.

Grease Traps

  • For best results, start with a clean grease trap.
  • Add directly to the trap 1 liter of Cantol Bio-Drain per 25cu.ft. (156 gallons) capacity, or 1 liter per 0.7cu.m (702 liters)
  • One week later, begin preventive maintenance treatment schedule.
  • For traps that have been in use where a top crust is visible, add 1 liter per 25cu.ft. (156 gallons) or 1 liter per 0.7cu.m (702 liters) capacity directly to the grease trap. Repeat every 3 - 4 days until the top crust disappears and then begin the preventive maintenance schedule.
  • If the grease trap is not treated first, it may receive more grease than it can handle and become overloaded.
  • Use this initial purge treatment after closing or at non-peak hours, This initial purge will help establish the colony sooner accelerating desired results.

Preventive Maintenance

  • Cantol Bio-Drain should be used daily to keep the culture in the grease trap at its full colony strength.
  • Treatment should take place at the close of business or non-peak hours.
  • First, run lukewarm water down each drain leading to the grease trap for 5 seconds to clear the line of any harsh chemicals which will reduce the biological activity in Cantol Bio-Drain.
  • Cantol Bio-Drain should be added in a sink or pipeline closest to the trap.
  • Treat the grease trap according to size with Cantol Bio-Drain daily. Use the following guide:
Size Of Trap Treatment (Ounces Per Day)
5cu.ft. (31 gals.) or 0.14cu.m (140 liters) 1 (28ml)
20cu.ft. (125 gals.) or 0.57cu.m (563 liters) 4 (114ml)
40cu.ft. (250 gals.) or 1.13cu.m (1125 liters) 8 (227ml)
80cu.ft. (375 gals.) or 1.70cu.m (1688 liters) 12 (341ml)

For larger grease traps, apply four ounces for every 20 cubic feet (0.57 cu.m) every day.

  • Let Cantol Bio-Drain stay in the drains overnight.
  • The next morning, run lukewarm water down each drain for 5 seconds to flush the mixture into the grease trap.
  • The recommended quantities will take 21-25 days to build to full strength.
  • Dosage should be increased proportionately if there is an abnormal flow of solid waste.
  • After the treated grease trap is in operation for at least 30 days, the depth of the grease layer should be checked. If the layer is deep (1 inch/2.5 cm or more), it indicates that the daily treatment dosage should be increased. If no grease layer is present, it indicates that a possible saving can be effected by decreasing the daily dosage.

NOTE: Do not use Cantol Bio-Drain where disinfectants, chlorinated dishwashing products, or very hot water (160°F/71°C or higher) will follow the treatment.

Drain Lines And Down Pipes

  • Pour the recommended quantity down every drain or downpipe a minimum of 2 times per week to a maximum of 4 times per week, depending upon the usage of the building.
  • Begin on the lowest floor and proceed upward, one floor per day, until the entire system is cleaned and flowing freely.
  • If the line is dry, follow with a cup of lukewarm water.
  • Once conditions are under control, continue treatment from the top floor only.
  • Recommended dosage is as given below in the table
Pipe Size Cantol Bio-Drain Dosage
2inch (5cm) 3oz. (85ml) 2 - 4 times/week
4inch (10cm) 6oz. (170ml) 2 - 4 times/week
6inch (15cm) 9oz. (256ml) 2 - 4 times/week
8inch (20cm) 12oz. (341ml) 2 - 4 times/week
  • Dosage should be increased proportionately if there is an abnormal flow of solid waste.
  • Apply Cantol Bio-Drain at the end of the day or during the lowest use period.
  • Keep the schedule of treatment so that established colonies are maintained.

NOTE: Do not use BIO-DRAIN where disinfectants, chlorinated dishwashing products, or very hot water (160°F/70°C or higher) will follow the treatment.

Application Equipment
  • Use portion aid with a liter or gallon containers.
  • Screw on the portion aid and squeeze the liter or gallon bottle and allow Cantol Bio-Drain to rise to the proper ounce level.
  • Tip the bottle over and pour from the portion aid into the drain or grease trap.
  • Provides for a clean, accurate, controlled manual dispensing of Cantol Bio-Drain.
  • To automatically dispense Cantol Bio-Drain into drains and grease traps, use the Cantol recommended feeding and proportioning device.
Directions for Use
