- Product Highlights
- Because of its unique oligomeric structure, Dynasylan® 1146 silane exhibits excellent wetting on substrates and forms weather- and moisture-resistant bonds to substrates with difficult adhesion properties.
- The diamino functionality provides a reactive site for amino-reactive resins, whereas the alkyl functionality imparts hydrophobicity.
- Use of in silylated urethane or MS polymer adhesives and sealants results in:
- superior wet adhesion to inorganic (e.g. concrete, aluminum) and organic substrates (e.g. PVC)
- improvements in elongation and modulus, allowing the formulation of highly elastic products
- reduced yellowing and staining
- significantly reduced water uptake, allowing for water resistant adhesives
- Dynasylan® 1146: adhesion promoter in many adhesives and sealants with extended properties profi le: environmen- tally- and user-friendly through reduced VOC.
- The unique oligomeric structure of Dynasylan® 1146, achieved through patented Evonik technology, produces not only a good adhesion spectrum but also an important water-repellent effect in the adhesives and sealants from which it is made on the basis of RTV-1 silicone, 2K polyurethane, butyl rubber, silane-ter- minated hybrid polymers (hybrid systems) or 2K epoxy resin.
- With Dynasylan® 1146, the disadvantage of having to provide labeling due to the sensitizing potential, known from other aminosilane adhesion promoters, is now a thing of the past.
- Improves adhesion in adhesives and sealants made with it, also on proble-matic substrates and when exposed to moisture.
- Effectively repels undesirable moisture penetration into the sealant, thereby preventing premature product failure.
- Balances important mechanical proper- ties such as tensile and flexural strength to a high level.
- Improves handling and processing of adhesives and sealants.
- Releases significantly lower alcohol amounts through the reduced VOC.
- Is non-sensitizing on contact with skin and therefore does not require special labeling.
- Causes less yellowing of white or transparent sealants, compared to traditional aminosilanes.
- Less yellowing of white or transparent sealants compared to traditional aminosilanes.
- Balance of important mechanical properties such as tensile and flexural strength to a high level.

- Application Characteristics
- Dynasylan® 1146 silane is a versatile product that provides improved product performance and quality.
- Dynasylan® 1146 silane is soluble in common organic solvents (e. g. MeOH, EtOH, MEK).
- Dynasylan® 1146 silane may be used as an additive or as a primer in adhesives and sealants, and in coatings applications.
- When used as an additive, Dynasylan® 1146 silane can eliminate the need for special primers in numerous bonding applications.
- Specific systems that demonstrate improved adhesion when Dynasylan® 1146 silane is used include RTV silicones and hybrid silane-crosslinked systems.
- Additive loading levels of 0.5 to 1.5 wt.% Dynasylan® 1146 silane with regard to the overall formulation are typically recommended.
- Dynasylan® 1146 silane can also be utilized as a mineral filler treatment.
- The diamino and alkyl functionalities result in unique functional filler properties when Dynasylan® 1146 treated minerals are incorporated into polymers.

Technical Details & Test Data
- Enhanced Adhesion Performance
- Dynasylan® 1146 exhibits very good adhesion perfor- mance withstanding difficult conditions such as exposure to moisture.
- It significantly improves adhesion to substrates especially when formulating innovative SMP (hybrid) systems or RTV silicones.
- With Dynasylan® 1146, you can achieve excellent adhesion performance on a wide variety of substrates such as aluminum, steel, glass and wood; but even adhesion on critical concrete and PVC can be improved.
- Adhesion performance of MS Polymer Sealant on various substrates
- Reduced Water Uptake
- Dynasylan® 1146 prevents adhesives and sealants from deterioration as it helps to protect against moisture penetration or water absorption.
- Sealants formulated with Dynasylan® 1146 enable to reduce water absorption by 50%.
* For this test, the fully curend hybrid sealant specimen were stored in water at 23 °C.
- Improved Mechanical Properties:
- Improved mechanical properties: up to 75% tensile strength increase
- Both tailor-made multifunctional silane systems have been tested in a lab study compared to the market stan- dard Dynasylan® AMMO, and led to strongly improved mechanical properties of the corresponding SMP-based sealants (Figure 1, AMMO = 100 as an index).
- Mechanical properties of cured MS PolymerTM sealants.
- Significant Yellowing Reduction
- As shown below, the visual evaluation of said sealants indicated Dynasylan® SIVO 203 as best silane solution with a look on color stability while Dynasylan® 1146 was 2nd best . Dynasylan® AMMO gave proper specimen while (the old standard) Dynasylan® DAMO-T failed.
- Last but not least, Dynasylan® SIVO 203– and especially Dynasylan® 1146–offer real opportunities to avoid labeling.
