- Chemical Name:Tributyl Phosphate
- CAS Number:126-73-8
- Functions:Plasticizer, Bonding Agent, Anti-Static Agent, Defoamer, Solvent
- Chemical Family:Organophosphates, Phosphorous-based Compounds, Phosphate Esters, Esters
- Synonyms:Butyl Phosphate, Phosphoric Acid Tributyl Ester, TBP
Tributyl phosphate (TBP) is soluble in ethanol and other common organic solvents, and slightly soluble in water. The solubility of water in this product is 7% (25°C). But as the temperature rises, it will gradually hydrolyze. It is widely used as a plasticizer for nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate, chlorinated rubber, and polyvinyl chloride; as a solvent, defoamer and antistatic agent for coatings, adhesives, and inks; it can also be used as a rare Metal extractant. However, this product has low boiling point and large volatilization loss, and its application in plasticizers is relatively limited.
