    Background

Funghi Trifolati comes from the Piedmont region of Italy. Funghi means mushrooms. Trifoliate refers to a preparation with oil, garlic and parsley that is commonly used in mushroom dishes. Trifola is the Piedmontese dialect word for the white truffle of Alba, and is the origin of the verb trifolare. Truffles were probably often prepared in this way in the past and funghi trifolari owes the name to this.
