Recommended Use

Steel:

  • For structures, in environments of medium, high corrosivity, very high and extreme (C3, C4, C5 and CX - ISO-12944-2 / 2018).
  • For structures immersed in fresh, salty or brackish water, compatible with cathodic protection (Im1; Im2 and Im4 - ISO12944-2 / 2018).
Compatibility

Depending on the operating conditions, the product can be used with different types of paints.

  • Rayston's moisture-cured one-component polyurethanes (PU 1K).
  • Polyurethanes two components of Rayston (PU 2K).
Surface Preparation
Surface Type Minimum Recommended
Surface profile Ry5 (30–75 µm) (ISO 8503-1) Ry5 (30–75 µm) (ISO 8503-1)
Steel surfaces St 2 (ISO 8501-1) Sa 2½ (ISO 8501-1)
Application
  • At temperatures below zero up to -18°C.
  • High relative humidity up to 99%.
  • No dew point restrictions.
  • No restrictions on the maximum repainting time.
  • Minimal surface preparation to St2 grade (ISO 8501-1).
  • Do not apply in rain or snow, or if the applied material does not have enough time to be dry to the touch, before it rains or snows.
  • *At relative humidity below 30%, it is recommended to add Rayston Activator.

Note:

  • If the relative humidity decreases, the curing time increases.
  • There is no maximum repainting time.
  • Rayston Activator can shorten the drying time.
  • Drying and curing time determined at controlled temperature and relative humidity 60 - 80%.
Application Data

Homogenization: It is a single component, before its use, it must be thoroughly homogenized with a low-speed mechanical mixer, avoiding air entrapment. Before opening the cans, it is advisable to ensure that the temperature of the material is at least 3°C above the dew point.

Dilution: Addition of thinner is not normally required. If necessary Raystonthinner or Raystonthinner CC can be added up to 10% by volume.

Note: Failure to use the recommended thinners will result in a possible, the manufacturer is not made reduction in product quality.

Cleaning: All equipment should be cleaned with Raystonthinner Thinner or Raystonthinner CC immediately after the job is complete.

Application Method

Spray Application: The airless machine is the main method of application. For other spray methods, viscosity correction may be required.

Brush: Brush application recommended for trimming and finishing or small repairs.

Roller: It is not recommended to apply the primer coat with roller. The roller could be used to replenish lack of thickness
