Sierra Organic is a supplier of highly nutritious superfoods from Peru and other parts of the world. We have been involved with sourcing, processing, packaging, marketing and even growing superfoods since 2013. Joseph Levy and Joseph Cartledge founded Sierra Organic Foods Ltd in 2017, having been involved in a previous superfoods retail venture since 2013. The view from the beginning was to leverage Joseph Levy's 15 years experience of sourcing diverse products from Peru and bringing them to market worldwide and Joseph Cartledge's enthusiasm and passion for superfoods and 4 years experience within the food industry. We run farming and processing operations in Peru, where we are in the fortunate position of being a UK superfoods supplier directly responsible for every step in the supply chain for certain products (i.e cacao, maca and chia). Sierra Organic has a sister company in Peru which operates cooperative mapping and quality control operations on all Peruvian products sold by Sierra Organic in the UK. The aims from the onset were to not only gain a pricing advantage by working as far down the supply chain as possible, but also to use our sourcing experience within Peru in order to maximize traceability and assure quality and uniformity whilst working within sustainable methods of agriculture.

Heirloom Cacao Beans: Chuncho is obtained from Theobroma cacao, also known as the cacao tree or cacao tree, is a small evergreen tree in the family Malvaceae, native to the deep tropical regions of Central and South America. Its seeds, cacao beans, are used to make cacao mass, cacao powder, and chocolate. Sierra Organic goes directly to the best source of Peruvian cacao, the Amazon rainforest and partners directly with cacao growing cooperatives.

Sierra Organic Organic Cacao Butter buttons is obtained from the process of pressing cacao paste/liquor. During this process most of the fat from the paste is extracted. This extracted fat is known as cacao butter and is often used to add fat to chocolate. This natural cacao extract is molded into easy-to-use buttons, making them super-simple for chocolate production.

Sierra Organic Acerola Powder trees thrive in the tropical climates of South America and Central America. Fruits from the tree mature to a diameter of 1 to 2 centimeters and develop into bright red cherries. Acerola Powder is made from Acerola berries which are known for having an extremely high vitamin C content, almost as much as camu camu. These cherries also contain vitamins A, B1, B2, and B3, as well as beneficial carotenoids and bioflavonoids. The vitamin C found in acerola cherries is absorbed easier by the body than synthetic ascorbic acid supplements.

Camu Camu Extract is made from Myrciaria dubia or Camu Camu berry which is a small red, purple and yellow fruit which originates from the Amazon rainforest of Peru. Known as “nature’s vitamin C pill”, it is one of the world's most plentiful sources of vitamin C, as much as 60 times more per serving than an orange. As Camu Camu powder is a whole food and maintains its natural properties, the body can absorb its nutrients far more effectively in comparison to an artificial Vitamin C supplement.

The process of extracting cacao butter from the cacao liquor/paste, leaves behind a by-product called the cacao “cake”. This cacao “cake” is milled/pulverized and turned into a fine powder called Cacao Powder.

Sierra Organic Sacha Inchi Nuts is made from Sacha Inchi, also known as the Inca peanut, is the seed of a plant that grows in the jungle highlands of Peru. Despite being a recent discovery in the western health food community, Sacha Inchi has been cultivated and used as a food source for 3,000 years by the natives of the Amazon rainforest. The fruit that these seeds grow in is inedible, but when lightly roasted the seeds take on a nutty flavor. Sacha Inchi contain high levels of omega 3, 6, and 9, protein, alpha tocopherol vitamin E, vitamin A (carotenoids), and fiber.
