- Identification & Functionality
- Harvested from the Theobroma cacao tree, translating to ?food for the gods?, cacao nibs are made from crushed cacao beans. Our cacao nibs are gently roasted to enhance flavor, great as a ready-to-eat snack or as a topper for breakfast cereals.
- Growing along the cacao belt close to the equator, cacao trees require a constant climate consisting of high humidity, abundant rain, and nutrient-rich soil. Cacao trees produce fibrous green, red and purple pods before they ripen to a yellow color. Once ripe, the beans are gently harvested from the cacao pods and then cleaned, fermented, and dried before roasting and crushing to make nibs.
- Rich in theobromine, cacao has a long list of associated benefits including increasing energy, improving circulation, and boosting mood.
