"Airex Rubber Products Corporation was incorporated in 1943 on the shores of The Connecticut River In Portland, CT, with James O. Hetrick, Sr. as owner and president. Its main customer at the time was The Piper Cub Corporation, which bought shock cord and shock rings from Airex to be used in landing gear on its small prop airplanes. (Shock cord and shock rings are similar to what are known as “bungee cords” today: bunches of small rubber strands with outer coatings of braided thread.)

From there, Airex’s operations widened to producing seals and plugs for the local solenoid valve companies.

As Airex grew in its expertise and scope, under the guidance of James “Jidge” O. Hetrick, Jr., the customer base expanded to providing rubber masks made out of a variety of different elastomeric polymers to stand up to abrasive blasting and thermal coating procedures for the aerospace industry.

Today, Airex Rubber Products is a third-generation family business and a full service design and manufacturing facility servicing customers around the globe in a myriad of different fields, including aerospace, solenoid valve, oil exploration, and orthopedic implants, with an expertise in design work, rubber-to-metal bonding, and precision molding of rubber parts."

Airex Rubber Products PFR-94 is a compound is a 75-durometer perfluoroelastomer which will resist nearly all chemical reagents, including organic and inorganic acids, alkalines, ketones, esters, alcohols and fuels. At the same time, it offers outstanding high temperature resistance (300 degrees C) which makes it ideal for o-rings, seals, diaphragms and other high quality parts.

Airex Rubber Products A-7350 Silicone Compoundis a 35 shore A durometer silicone compound with a minimum tensile strength of 650 PSI and a minimum elongation of 350%. It is capable of resisting, for short periods, temperatures from -100 to 600 degrees F. It should, however, be considered serviceable at temperatures of -50 to 400 degrees F.

Airex Rubber Products A-48003 is an FDA-Approved 80-durometer nitrile rubber compound that meets-the requirements of CFR 177.2600 for rubber articles that intended for repeated use.

Airex Rubber Products A-4733 is an FDA-Approved grit blast elastomer formulation that meets the requirements of CFR 177.2600 for rubber articles that are intended for repeated use. In addition, this compound has proven to be non-toxic in cytotoxicity testing. It is a 70-durometer compound with a minimum tensile strength of 3200 PSI and a minimum elongation of 400%. Intended for the medical industry where high abrasion resistant masking is required.

Airex Rubber Products A-9660 is a 65-durometer silicone compound that has a minimum tensile strength of 1000 PSI and a minimum elongation of 350%. It is capable of heat resistance for extended period of time within the temperature range of -50 to 450 degrees F. It may be used for short periods of time at temperatures as low as -100 degrees F and as high as 600 degrees F. A-9660 also possesses excellent release properties, and it is used extensively in hot wax processes.
