AMI Chemical Corporation EBKS 1541-A

AMI Chemical Corporation EBKS 1541-A is a zero VOC formulation compatible for use in Plastisol systems containing zinc, calcium and other reactive metals. It will not react with heat stabilizers or flame retardants. EBKS-1541A has no reactive groups and an extremely high Smoke Point. EBKS-1541A is designed to lower, and stabilize viscosity in resinous, plasticizer and pigment combination systems.

Features & Benefits

Product Highlights

EBKS-1541A greatly reduces viscosity and allows for higher solids loadings decreasing formulation costs while producing a product with excellent long-term stability. EBKS-1541A is an amber liquid that causes no color change on cured products. Contains no hydrocarbon, oxygenated or chlorinated solvents. EBKS1541A is produced from completely renewable sources and is plasticizer free.

Features
  • Low plasticizer, high solids formulations.
  • Excellent reduction in viscosity.
  • Formulation stability.
  • Completely safe for Employees and Customers.
  • Decrease in foam production.
  • Use of any plasticizer or plasticizer combination.
  • Addition at any stage of plastisol production..
  • Passes Chamber and FLEC Test
  • Excellent Zero VOC Performance.
  • Contains no plasticizer.

EBKS-1541A allows the formulator to increase the amount of extenders, thus allowing for a reduction in total formulation costs. Effective in both highly filled and low/unfilled formulations as well as foamed and pigmented systems. EBKS-1541A should be used when VOCs and indoor air quality are of concern. Passes both the Chamber and FLEC tests when used in vinyl flooring, carpeting or other similar products that require a zero VOC additive.

Applications & Uses

Addition

Lowest viscosity is achieved if the 1541A is added to the liquid phase prior to the addition of the solids and blended for 5 - 15 minutes to achieve a homogenous mixture. The addition of any pigments, fillers and resins should follow this step. Post addition is also acceptable but best results are achieved if added to the liquid phase prior to solids. EBKS-1541A is generally added at 0.5 - 10% on resin weight. A ladder study is always recommended to optimize performance.
