AMI Chemical Corporation EBKS 1541-LS

AMI Chemical Corporation EBKS 1541-LS is a zero VOC formulation compatible for use in Plastisol systems containing zinc, calcium and other reactive metals. Will not react with heat stabilizers or flame retardants. EBKS-1541 LS is closely related to EBKS-1541, has no reactive groups and a much higher Smoke Point. The Smoke Point is extremely high for a product of this type at 482°F, thus the LS designation for Low Smoke. EBKS-1541 LS is designed to lower, and stabilize viscosity in resinous, plasticizer and pigment combination systems.

EBKS-1541 LS greatly reduces viscosity and allows for higher solids loadings decreasing formulation costs while producing a product with excellent long-term stability. EBKS-1541 LS is an amber liquid with low to-no-odor that causes no color change on cured products. Contains no hydrocarbon, oxygenated or chlorinated solvents. EBKS-1541 LS is produced from completely renewable sources and is plasticizer free.

EBKS-1541 LS allows the formulator to increase the amount of extenders, thus allowing for a reduction in total formulation costs. Effective in both highly filled and low/unfilled formulations as well as foamed and pigmented systems. EBKS-1541 LS should be used when VOCs and indoor air quality are of concern. Passes both the Chamber and FLEC tests when used in vinyl flooring, carpeting or other similar products that require a zero VOC additive. EBKS-1541 LS is a 100% solids formulation designed to increase your final, cured yield.

Applications & Uses

Addition

Lowest viscosity is achieved if EBKS-1541 LS is added to the liquids prior to the addition of the solids, blended for 5 - 15 minutes to achieve a homogenous mixture. The addition of any pigments, fillers and resins should follow this step. Post addition is also acceptable but best results are achieved if added to the liquid phase prior to solids. EBKS-1541 LS is generally added at 0.5 - 10% on resin weight. A ladder study is always recommended to optimize performance.
