It is also used as an efficient catalyst in organic synthesis, as well as a disinfectant and anti-bacterial agent in solutions, tinctures, and salves. It is also used in x-ray contrast media. It is used as a corrosion inhibitor/acid intensifier in oilfield gas production, as a polarizer in x-ray films, as a nylon stabilizer in LCD manufacturing, as a trace mineral in animal feeds and/or dietary supplement, and as a food additive.
