Induron Coatings AC 301 EXTERIOR WOOD PRIMER

AC 301 Exterior Wood Primer is a premium quality primer and surfacer specially formulated for very high performance and easy application. AC 301 is an oil-based, alkyd primer pigmented with stain, mold, and mildew blocking pigments. It is capable of being applied in a thick film to allow for sanding to achieve a smooth surface. It is formulated free of lead, mercury, and strong solvents.

    Use

    As a primer for exterior wood surfaces. This product is extremely blister resistant and will inhibit staining by tannins, mold, or mildew.

    Limitations

    This primer also is rust inhibitive when applied to carbon steel surfaces. Do not apply below 45°F (7°C).

    Surface Preparation

    Surface should be dry and free of all dirt, oil, laitance and other contaminants. New work should be prepared as follows:

    New Wood - Lightly sand and countersink and putty nail heads. Remove all surface contaminants, mold, and mildew which may discolor and inhibit adhesion. Use two coats of AC 301 Exterior Wood Primer over knots, tannin stains, or staining woods such as red cedar.

    Application

    Mix Thoroughly Before Use

    Airless Spray : Use .013-.017 tip; maintain 1500-2000 psi operating air pressure.
    Conventional Spray : Follow instructions of equipment manufacturer for the application of latex paints.
    Roll : Use a high quality, short nap synthetic roller cover. Avoid overspreading. Brush—Use a high quality, natural bristle brush.

    Thinning

    Thin as necessary with W-1012 Mineral Spirits or Induron K-1036 Spraying Thinner.

    Climate

    Use this product only if the substrate temperature and ambient air temperature is above 45°F (7°C) and is expected not to decrease for at least two hours after application. Also, the substrate temperature must be 5°F above the dew point for a period of at least two hours after application to avoid film defects caused from condensation occurring on wet paint.
