Induron Coatings AC 403S ACRYLIC ELASTOMERIC COATING

Induron AC 403 Acrylic Elastomeric Coating is a 100% acrylic, water borne, high build elastomeric coating that fills and bridges minor hairline cracks. AC 403 is available in AC 403S Smooth and AC 403TX Texture. This flexible finish coat provides long-term protection against wind driven rain and alternate freezing and thawing. It has excellent resistance to long-term exposure to sun light and will allow moisture vapor to escape from the substrate. It will expand and contract allowing minor substrate movements even at temperatures below freezing.

    Use

AC403 is an esthetically pleasing, durable coating system for new and existing poured and precast concrete, concrete block, brick, stucco and steel substrates. AC 403 Acrylic Elastomeric coating contains rust inhibitive pigmentation and is suitable for interior and exterior surfaces.

    Limitations

Do not apply below 40°F (4°C). Keep from freezing. Surface must be clean and structurally sound, free of all contaminants such as release agents, oil, grease, algae, laitance, and chalk. Do not use below grade. Coverage must be pinhole free to achieve waterproofing.

    Surface Preparation

All surfaces must be dry and free of dirt, oil, laitance or other contaminants.

    New Work

Allow concrete, plaster, mortar or stucco to cure at least 14 days. Fill large cracks or pits with Induron EFS 707 Epoxy Filler Surfacer or other approved masonry patching compound. Fill block with Induron AC 220 Acrylic Block Filler. Prime steel or iron with Induron Aquanaut© Acrylic Primer. Lightly abrade and remove all contaminants from aluminum or weathered galvanized steel before application of AC403. Apply two full coats of Induron AC 403 Elastomeric Coating.

    Previously Painted Surfaces

Remove all chalk, contaminants and loose paint using power washing and hand and power tool cleaning as per SSPC-SP 2 and SP 3, respectively. Fill large cracks and pits with EFS 707 Epoxy Filler Surfacer or other approved masonry patching compound. Prime with AC 402 Acrylic Masonry Sealer or Aquanaut Primer. Apply two full coats of Induron AC 403 Elastomeric Coating.

    Wet Film Thickness

Two coats are recommended for maximum waterproofing.

    Application
    • Airless Spray - To apply 403S-Smooth, use a Graco 35-1 or larger pump, with a 0.019"-0.025" tip, maintaining an atomizing pressure of 2500-3000 psi. To apply 403TX-Textured, use a Graco 35-1 or larger pump, 1/2" minimum material hose, 0.023"-29" tip, maintaining an atomizing pressure of 2500-3000 psi.
    • Conventional Spray - Not recommended.
    • Roll - Use 3/4" to 1/2" nap high quality synthetic cover. 403TX-Textured, use a 3/8 – 5/8 inch, high quality synthetic cover on smooth surfaces. Use longer nap for rough or porous surfaces. Maintain uniform film thickness during application.
    • Brush - Use synthetic or nylon bristle.

    Thinning

Thinning is not recommended. If necessary, thin up to 10% by volume with water. Immediately clean brushes and equipment with soapy water. Clean water rinse. Final flush equipment with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol.

    Climate

Use this product only if the substrate temperature and ambient air temperature is above 40°F and is expected not to decrease for at least two hours after application. Also, the substrate temperature must be 5°F above the dew point for a period of at least two hours after application to avoid film defects caused by condensation occurring on wet paint.
