Features & Benefits

Features
  • Excellent Water Attraction  - Cured HydroPhil™-S develops a unique surface structure which attracts water to the coated surface. The result is water contact angles approaching 0°.
  • Optical Clarity - The combination of the coatings’ thinness and the surface structures result in excellent optical clarity.
  • UV Stable - HydroPhil™-S is stable to ultraviolet exposure.
  • Coating - Methods HydroPhil™-S may be applied to most substrates by dip, spin, spray, sponge, or roller. The substrate will often determine the best coating method.
  • Durability - HydroPhil™-S is a robust coating that will maintain its hydrophilic properties after modest abrasion or chemical exposure.
  • HydroPhil™-S provides a nanoscale coating that provides water contact angles of less than 10°. The coating is optically clear and modestly durable. The current market includes HVAC and Microfluidics.

Applications & Uses

Compatible Substrates & Surfaces
Application Method
  • Surface Preparation - Surfaces must be free of moisture, dirt and grease. Be sure to clean the surface and allow to fully dry.
  • Dip Coating - In order to obtain a uniform film for dip coating, a controlled rate of immersion and withdrawal (15-20 cm/min) is required. The dip tank should be covered to limit solvent evaporation.
  • Spray Coating - HydroPhil™ can be sprayed using conventional industrial spraying equipment. Adequate ventilation should be used so that mist and vapor are drawn away from the operator.
  • Brush/Roller Coating - HydroPhil™ may be applied by the use of a brush, foam sponge or low nap paint roller. The consistency and layer uniformity will depend on the operator’s speed, pressure, and thoroughness.
  • Dilution - For some applications, the coating may be diluted for a more uniform coverage. If dilution is necessary, consult with your Lotus Leaf Coating’s representative prior to diluting with Isopropyl Alcohol, Methanol or Ethanol.
