TrueShea

Corn, or maize (Zea mays), is a grain that originates in Central America. Today, it is grown in temperate regions around the world. Corn oil is extracted from the germ, which contains 15 to 50% oil depending on how it is removed.
Corn oil is highly rich in linoleic acid (omega-6). This fatty acid is essential because the body cannot synthesize it. It is known for the important role it plays in the structure of cell membranes. This oil reduces transepidermal water loss by restoring the hydrolipidic film. It also has high levels of oleic acid, which has emollient properties. It makes the skin soft, supple, and more radiant.

OLVEA® Creamy Shea is a new innovative ester based on a combination of OLVEA’s Shea butter and its scientific expertise. Shea butter is a natural fat obtained from the fruit of the Shea tree (Butyrospermum parkii), which belongs to the Sapotaceae family. The fruit is collected from the bush exclusively by women.

Shea olein is made by fractionating shea butter, a fat obtained from the fruit of the shea tree (Butyrospermum parkii). This wild tree from the Sapotaceae family can only be found in its natural state in Africa, in the regions of Sudan and the Sahel north of the Equator.

The almond tree (Prunus dulcis) originates in Central Asia and is a member of the Rosaceae family. It is cultivated in Mediterranean countries and in California (more than 80% of global production). Its fruit generally contains a single seed, the almond, from which approximately 50% oil is extracted.

The avocado is the fruit of the avocado tree (Persea gratissima), which comes from the Lauraceae family and originates in Mexico and Guatemala. Avocado pulp contains 5 to 30% of oils. Avocado oil has high levels of palmitoleic acid, which penetrates easily while leaving behind a protective layer, making it ideal for delicate skin. It is also rich in oleic acid, which has emollient properties. This oil makes the skin soft and supple and improves its elasticity.

Rapeseed (Brassica napus), from the Brassicaceae family, is primarily grown in Europe, Canada, and China. Its oil is extracted from the rapeseeds, which contain 35 to 50% oil. This oil is balanced in omega-3s, omega-6s, and omega-9s. Around 80% of this oil’s fatty acids are oleic and linoleic acids (omega-6), with alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3) making up nearly 10%. Omega-3s and omega-6s are polyunsaturated fatty acids which are essential because the human body cannot synthesize them.

Sesame oil is extracted from the seeds of Sesamum indicum, an herbaceous plant from the Pedaliaceae family. These seeds contain 50 to 57% oil.
Sesame oil is highly rich in linoleic acid (omega-6). This fatty acid is essential because the human body cannot synthesize it. It is known for the important role it plays in the structure of cell membranes.

The peanut is a legume from the Fabaceae family that is grown in tropical regions for its oil-rich seeds. Each fruit is a pod containing one to four seeds, which are also called peanuts, from which up to 50% oil can be extracted. Peanut oil is essentially used in cooking. It is also a good oil medium for pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.

Jojoba oil is extracted from the seeds of a bush (Simmondsia chinensis) that grows in desert regions. Jojoba seeds contain up to 60% oil. Jojoba oil is a liquid wax made up of esters of saturated and mono-unsaturated, fatty acid and fatty alcohols, unlike vegetable oils which are triglyceride esters. It is also rich in unsaponifiable compounds.
