RussTech Inc Hypel-D

Hypel-D is a polymeric multi-component strength enhancing liquid water-repellant and efflorescence control admixture that is designed to enhance the beauty of manufactured concrete products while making them stronger and more resistant to penetration by water. Hypel-D resists water penetration by reacting deep within the cast concrete pore structure to form a very effective water repellant network throughout the masonry unit. Polymeric admixtures are a proven technology and have earned a reputation for their ability to effectively prevent moisture from penetrating concrete.

Technical Details & Test Data

Technical Note

Flashing and weep hole design details are available upon request. Efflorescence occurs when excess calcium salts become soluble again from moisture in the environment around the concrete or masonry unit. External sources of moisture can be humidity, rainfall, condensation, or snow etc. When these salts become soluble, they migrate to the surface during the evaporation process, consequently, staining the surface.

Hypel-D effectively reduces moisture from penetrating the surface and may be helpful in stopping salts from becoming soluble and migrating to the surface. It is important to point out though, that the addition of Hypel-D alone, will not guarantee the control of efflorescence.

Safety & Health

Precautions

Hypel-D will not correct building design flaws, out of specification materials, mix proportion errors, incorrect manufacturing procedures, or improper construction practices. Proper block manufacturing procedures, mixing, and proportioning of mixes must be incorporated.

RUSSTECH cannot be responsible for the incorrect use of Hypel-D.

If necessary, only use mild acid for cleanup. Do not use high pressure cleaning methods.

Packaging & Availability

Packaging

55-gallon drums, 275-gallon totes, and bulk delivery.

Storage & Handling

Shelf Life
6 Months
Storage

Hypel-D may freeze at temperatures below 40F (4 C). Freezing will harm this material, so, precautions should be taken to protect it from freezing. If it should freeze, it will no longer be effective in the masonry units and should be discarded. Also, Hypel-D should be stored in sealed containers where temperatures don’t exceed 118 F (48 C).
