POLYTHICK 470-S has the following features: ·
- Exhibits high transparency and excellent resistance to light, yellowing and heat because this product is copolymerized with acrylic ester as its main component.
- Has impenetrability even when coated onto paper due to its high cohesion.
- Easily soluble in various solvents such as ketones solvents, aromatic hydrocarbons solvents and esters solvents.
- Excellent workability due to its low viscosity.
- Does not require a cross-linking agent and there are no time limits for use due to being a one-component type.

Applications
(1) For Self-Adhesive Labels ·
- Coating solution and machines: To improve coating precision, POLYTHICK 470-S may generally be diluted with an equal amount of toluene, cyclohexane, ethyl acetate, or a combination of these solvents, and applied using coating machines including a gravure roll coater suitable for low viscosity applications.
- Amount of coating :Approximately 10 g/m2 (dry) provides sufficient tackiness.
(2) For Self-Adhesive Sheets Used in Automobile Interiors
- Coating solution and machines Undiluted POLYTHICK 470-S should generally be applied using a comma coater or another coating machine suitable for medium to high viscosity applications.
- Amount of coating :If the self-adhesive sheet is subjected to severe vehicle vibration or temperature fluctuation, 20 − 50 g/m2 (dry) of this product should be applied. For tackiness to especially rough surfaces, 40 − 50 g/m2 (dry) should be applied.
(3) For Solidified Foam, Nonwoven Fabrics and Heat-Sensitive Films
- Direct application to the substrate may result in insufficient adhesive strength due to penetration of the adhesive into the substrate. This product should be applied using the transfer method after being applied to releasing paper, dried, and transferred to the substrate.
- For use with a heat-sensitive substrate including polyethylene film, the adhesive should be applied using the transfer method after being applied to releasing paper, dried, and transferred to the substrate.
2. Drying
- Use of a hot-air dryer with multiple heat settings is recommended because this product contains an organic solvent with a low boiling point.
- This product should be dried for 30 − 60 seconds after being heated from ambient temperature (20 ± 15 °C) to approx. 100 °C.
- Insufficient drying may result in incomplete evaporation of the organic solvents and lowered adhesive strength. Care should be taken to ensure proper heating and drying conditions depending on the coating machine.
3. Curing
- After being dried, the coating should be cured for approx. 3 days between 40 and 60 °C.
