Polycor® 947 Neutral Base have been developed for the fiberglass industry where reduced burn characteristics are needed. When properly applied, 947 series gel coats will meet ul 94v-0 requirements. Sfp gel coats are formulated with a brominated polyester resin system. Federal, state or local regulations may limit their use in certain applications. Check with the appropriate governing agency. Since the flame properties of sfp gel coats in the cured state will vary depending on catalyzation, ultimate cure, and the laminating materials used, it is suggested that the user submit samples of the entire composite for testing by an independent lab. Polynt’s 947 series gel coats are designed for interior, non-water immersion service only. Because these gel coats are formulated with a brominated polyester resin, they do not have good resistance to UV and/or water attack. These gel coats are ready to use, easy to spray, sag resistant, fast curing and require only the addition of the proper amount of an appropriate methyl ethyl ketone peroxide to cure. Sfp's are available in many visually appealing colors. Certain custom color matching is available on request.

Polycor® 998 Base White series enamels are formulated to be used as topcoats on fiberglass laminates. Enamels are very similar to gel coats except they cure tack-free on the open surface. Enamels are used to seal and hide a substrate. Normally they are used as interior finishes and yield a pigmented surface. Polycor® 998 series enamels were primarily developed for marine applications; however, they can be used in any FRP application where high performance characteristics are desired. Polycor® 998 series enamels produce a hard, tough, durable coating that reduces maintenance on composites parts. Polycor® 998 series enamels cure to a flat finish. Standard enamels should not be used for water immersion service due to potential water spotting and water blistering. Contact a sales representative for a recommendation if water immersion is required. Polycor® 998 series enamels meet the EPA national emission standards for hazardous air pollutants NESHAP for both marine manufacturing and reinforced composites production. Polycor® 998 series enamels contain wax. The wax is essential to yielding a tack-free surface in the top coating application. The wax also helps to suppress the volatile organic compounds emitted in to the air. Together the low VOC or hap content and wax results in:reduced monomer emissionsless odorsmoother sprayed film less orange peel less overspray due to the wax, Polycor® 998 series enamels should not be used as an in-mold coating where they will be backed by laminate or other materials. Delamination could occur. Enamels require only the addition of the proper amount of the appropriate methyl ethyl ketone peroxide to cure. These enamels are available in White or any of the Colors listed in the standard gel coat color card. Special Colors are available upon request.

Two versions are available depending on the pot life needed : 1h45min for large parts or 16min for high production outputs, with a very fast curing time in film for the fast version - closer to a polyester curing time than to a typical epoxy. In both cases, the gelcoat may be ordered in its clear version (mainly for parts) or colored version for tools or parts production.
