Applications & Uses
- Applications
- Compatible Substrates & Surfaces
- Pre-Application
- When using any CSI Solvent Sealer the surface must be clean and completely dry before application. If the surface is not clean or completely dry, the sealer may not penetrate. If excessive moisture in the concrete is suspected, contact ChemSystems, Inc. for technical assistance before application.
- The surface should be completely clean and dry before application. For cleaning use at least 2 ounces of CSI Neutralizer/Degreaser per gallon of water. Clean and rinse well.
- Before applying product to new or existing concrete, test in an inconspicuous area for desired results. For any questions regarding application, contact ChemSystems, Inc.
- If applying over old lacquer or solvent-based sealer, test a small area to determine compatibility. Loose, flaky sealer should be removed using a high-pressure washer or chemical stripper.
- If surface is not adequately porous, etch with CSI Etch & Clean. Rinse well with a pressure washer.
- When applying to pavers, sweep away excess sand before sealer application. Application Warning: Do not apply Penetrating Color Enhancer SB to fresh concrete. This sealer is not a curing compound. Allow at least 7 days for concrete to cure or at a very minimum, wait until the concrete has reached a uniform color. For optimum results, allow concrete to cure for 28 days or longer.
- Application
- Do not pour directly from can to concrete. Apply with a high-quality solvent resistant pump-up or airless sprayer or a low nap solvent resistant roller. Do not thin product.
- Important: When applying do not allow the sealer to puddle. Maintain a wet edge to avoid roller marks. Apply the sealer as uniformly as possible without leaving either spaces or puddles. Use a cross hatch application pattern for best results. Multiple thinapplications will give better results than a single, heavy application.
- Two light coats at the recommended coverage rate are usually sufficient to seal and protect. However, very porous surfaces may require additional coats. Note: additional applications may result in increased surface slipperiness.
- Allow 4 hours to dry prior to light foot traffic. Avoid vehicular traffic for 48 hours. Apply only when surface and air temperatures are above 50° F and below 90° F. Cooler temperatures or increased humidity will slow the dry time.
- Clean up with aromatic solvent such as xylene.
- Surface Protection and Maintenance
- Maintain the sealed surface with regular cleaning.
- Day-to-Day Cleaning – Frequent sweeping or vacuuming of loose soils will significantly increase the wear-life of a sealers.
- Maintenance Cleaning – Clean sealed surfaces with a neutral pH cleaner, rinse and let dry.
- Removing Ground-in Soils – For removal of ground-in soils, use a neutral pH cleaner, scrub with a low-speed buffer or stiff bristle brush. Rinse by pressure washing thoroughly. Let dry before allowing traffic.

Technical Details & Test Data
- Coverage Rates
Coverage Rates – Actual coverage may vary depending on the texture, age and condition of the concrete, the application method and other local conditions. Two thin coats are recommended. Over application may result in a slick surface.
- Textured or Stamped - Material usage, per coat, is approx. 200 sq. ft. per gallon.
- Broom Swept – Material usage, per coat, is approx. 250 sq. ft. per gallon.
- Concrete Pavers – Material usage, per coat, is approx. 100 sq. ft. per gallon.
- Recoat – Surface can be recoated two to four hours after each application.
