Orris Root CO2-SE Extract 3% Irones is a yellow paste with a sweet balsamic, weak woody, violet-like smell. Turns to a liquid at higher temperatures. This product is produced by supercritical fluid extraction with natural carbon dioxide, no solvent residues, no inorganic salts, no heavy metals and no reproducible microorganisms. The extract is standardized to a content of 3 % irones by addition of MCT-oil. Ideal for application in perfumery and in soap industry, as flavor ingredient in the liqueur industry and in flavor compositions.

Applications

Traditional use:
In folk medicine, orris root is used to treat respiratory diseases such as bronchitis, asthma and coughing, and nausea. Furthermore, it is said to help against headaches, circulatory weakness and flatulence. However, there is currently no scientific evidence of its effectiveness in these areas.


In food:
As flavor, orris root extract can be used in the liqueur industry to prepare fine liqueurs and bitter spirits.


In cosmetics:
Due to its violet-like odor, the extract is used as a fragrance in soaps, creams, lotions and perfumes
