STEP-FLOW® 1500 is a nonionic surfactant that can be used as an emulsifier or dispersant in a variety of agricultural formulations. Step-flow 1500 is an ethoxylated, propoxylated polyarylphenol ether, block copolymer. Step-flow 1500 can be used as a nonionic emulsifier or dispersant in a variety of agricultural formulations, including suspension concentrates, emulsifiable concentrates, and microemulsions. Step-flow 1500 provides a low pour point for ease of handling.

Toxicity

STEP-FLOW 1500 was found to be practically non-toxic orally in rats (LD₅₀> 5000 mg/kg). Undiluted STEP-FLOW 1500 is slightly irritating to eyes and not irritating to skin.

Storage & Handling

  • Normal safety precautions (i.e., gloves and safety goggles) should be employed when handling STEP-FLOW 1500. Contact with eyes and prolonged contact with skin should be avoided. Wash thoroughly after handling materials.
  • Bulk Storage Information: Stainless steel and glass fiber-reinforced polyester tanks are recommended. Many oven-cured phenolic and epoxy/phenolic linings may also be used. Elevated storage temperature may be desirable to maintain ease of pumping. Temperatures up to 130 °F (54 °C) can be maintained without degradation of the product.
  • STEP-FLOW 1500 that has been stored in drums at low temperatures may thicken or solidify. Product may be fluidized by warming with a drum heater or in a steam room. Drums should be vented prior to heating to avoid excessive pressure build up. Product temperatures over 130 °F (54 °C) are not recommended.
