Incorporated in 1992, Zircon Corporation was founded by Dr. Charles Edward Bayha to market and commercialize novel and unique products developed in the research laboratories of Alpha Corporation (Alpha/Owens Corning). These products have applications in many diverse industries. Polymeric resins were developed for the ultra-violet cure coatings industry in wood, plastic, metal, and ceramic substrates. These resins offer compelling application and coatings properties, not found in conventional coatings, at highly competitive pricing. Additive agents were developed for non-aqueous air release, surface filler wet out for viscosity reduction, vapor emission reduction, and coatings leveling properties. Zircon's most ambitious program has been the development of liquid products for applications in the production of variousglass lamination processes. In 1989, Zircon, as a division of Alpha Corporation (Alpha/Owens Corning), was the first company to have the Safety Glass Certification Council approval for 16 CFR, 1201 category II impact testing for production of laminated glass using the Cold Cure Liquid Glass Lamination Process. Zircon has the only liquid resin that produces glass laminates capable of withstanding 10,000 hours in the Q.U.V. weather testing without yellowing, delamination, or clouding.

Astrocure

Astrocure® 78-750 (Styrene Monomer 25%) is a low profile (low shrink), medium viscosity resin containing diluent monomer (styrene). The product is non-air inhibited and can be cured with ultra-violet/electron beam radiation or with a room temperature or heat cured peroxide system. Combinations of surface and through cure U.V. initiators are needed to formulate Astrocure® 78-750. Astrocure 78-750 can further be thinned with various solvents, multi-functional acrylates and other epoxy or urethane oligomers.

Astrocure® 78-750 (Styrene monomer 25%)

Astrocure® 78 Oligomer is a unique, low viscosity reactive, cycloaliphatic oligomer, especially tailored for application in ultra-violet/electron beam (UV/EB) radiation cured coatings. The product can be thinned with a variety of reactive monomers including multi-functional and diluent acrylate monomers. The oligomer is air drying in thin film applications and contains no aromatic groups.

Astrocure® 78-80 (Styrene Monomer 20%) is a low profile (low shrink, medium viscosity resin containing diluent monomer (styrene). The product is non-air inhibited and can be cured with ultra-violet/electron beam radiation or with a room temperature and/or heat cured peroxide system.

Astrocure® 88 Oligomer is a low viscosity, low reactivity, flexibilizing oligomer that is designed to be used as a flexibilizing agent. It is light in color and should be used with Astrocure® 78 in the 10-15% by weight levels.

Astrocure® 67 Oligomer is a unique, low profile reactive, cycloaliphatic oligomer, especially tailored for application in ultra-violet/electron beam (UV/EB) radiation cured coating. The product is a flexible version of Astrocure® 78. It is light in color and has excellent adhesion to a wide variety of substrates.
