Cel-Span® S 100 is a compounded additive for color stabilization and dispersion. A unique proprietary compounding technique makes it possible to pelletize the entire active stabilizer and dispersant in the formulation without adding additional heat history. Cel-Span® S 100 should be utilized at 0.25% to 1% consistently during the color concentration manufacturing processes for stabilization and dispersion. Cel-Span® S 100 also lessens degradation of pigments and enhances the brightness of color concentrates. The pigment is initially dispersed by dispersing agents in order to prevent the formation of uncontrolled flocculates; a process of contact and adhesion whereby the particles of dispersion form larger-size clusters. Stability of dispersion is a result of interplay of the heat (kinetic) energy of particles, attractive inter-particle forces, and repulsive forces; this also helps to limit short-range Van der Waals forces.
