"Kentucky Equine Research is an international equine nutrition, research, and consultation company serving horse owners and the feed industry. The company’s goals are to advance the industry’s knowledge of equine nutrition and exercise physiology, apply that knowledge to produce healthier, more athletic horses, and support the nutritional care of all horses throughout their life. In 1999, Kentucky Equine Research set up a second office in Victoria, Australia, to serve that continent and Asia.

The corporate North American office is the home to the company’s research facilities. Nutrition and exercise physiology trials are conducted year-round at the 150-acre farm. Kentucky Equine Research bases much of its consultation services and product development on the results of these trials.

First and foremost, Kentucky Equine Research serves as a consultant to feed manufacturers. Kentucky Equine Research nutritionists work with mill owners and managers on six continents to formulate top-quality feeds that complement typical local forages. These feeds contain KER micronutrient premixes to ensure that, when fed with appropriate forage and according to label directions, they will provide a diet balanced to Kentucky Equine Research’s specifications."

Kentucky Equine Research MFM Pellet contains several important amino acids, including cysteine, a key component in many antioxidants. Also included in MFM Pellet are the branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) leucine, isoleucine, and valine, all three of which are essential amino acids that must be obtained from the diet. BCAA may be used as a substrate for energy production in skeletal muscle. Research in human athletes has shown that BCAA may stimulate protein synthesis and delay onset of fatigue. MFM Pellet also contains the essential amino acids lysine, methionine, and threonine.
