Norplex-Micarta manufactures the highest quality specialty sheet products, prepregs, rods, molded shapes, and tubes to meet demanding applications for OEMs and fabricators around the world. The global headquarters of Norplex-Micarta is located in Postville, Iowa, USA. To support the demand for thermoset composite materials in Asia, the Company also operates a facility in Changzhou, Jiangsu, P.R. China. Norplex-Micarta produces sheets, tubes, rods, and other specialty molded shapes for thousands of different applications in dozens of different industries.&nbsp; The Postville, Iowa facility is equipped with a variety of impregnation and downstream equipment to serve the varied needs of the industrial market. Prepreg can be produced on either horizontal or vertical machines as required to match the requirements of the fabrication process. Norplex-Micarta processes sheets and stock shapes internally.&nbsp; Sheets are regularly produced at 6 inches (150 mm) thick, and several materials can be produced as a monolithic sheet as thick as 12 inches (300 mm). Tubes are produced on IDs ranging from 0.094 inches (2.3 mm) to 48 inches (1.2 meters) on specially built mandrels. These materials are generally further processed by firms that specialize in the machining, punching, or other stock removal fabrication process.

Fine weave (less than 4 ounce/square yard) cotton fabric commonly called linen, combined with phenolic resin to provide better machining than NP310. NP320 should be used for smaller and more intricate shapes than NP310, when a finer surface finish is required. NP320 meets or exceeds the requirements of MIL-I-24768/15 and IEC-60893-4-PF CC 203.

MC511SN, StatNot™, is a static dissipative epoxy, woven glass based material with excellent control of the static dissipative properties. This material is used where static dissipation is required from surfaces to surface of the composite, in the x, y and z directions.

MC511FR is a high strength, medium weave glass epoxy laminate that retains a minimum of 50 percent of its room temperature flexural strength when tested at 150ºC. Typical applications include structural applications when used in elevated temperatures. MC511FR also complies with MIL-I-24768/28, Type GEB-F. Certification to IEC standard is pending.

MC330 is a cotton cloth/phenolic resin composite which is specially processed to be used in cryogenic applications. Such applications include spacers for installation of liquid oxygen apparatus where temperatures are as low as minus 320° F.

NP310BW is a cotton phenolic composite which is specifically designed to dissipate heat better than standard cotton phenolic products. Applications include trunion wheels, wire strander rolls and pile-driver head cushions.

Canvas phenolic laminate with molybdenum disulphide added as a solid lubricant. This material has improved wear properties under certain conditions. Material is semi-conductive to electricity and should no be used where this is detrimental to the application.

NP193PM is composed of a 17 oz. aramid and "soft glass" fibers are combined to make a fabric that is stronger than pure aramid and less abrasive than glass fabrics. This material is impregnated with a high temperature phenolic resin matrix which includes a non-conducting solid lubricant. This composite has excellent mechanical strength at elevated temperatures and adverse environments. Applications include wear plates for conveyor systems, valve plates, and compressor and pump vanes.

MC511A is a high strength, glass epoxy laminate that is specially formulated to meet power generation producer’s exacting standards where higher strength at elevated temperatures are required. MC511A is certifiable to MIL-I-24768/3, Type GEB, IEC-60893-3-2 EP GC 203 and is halogen free to meet the European restrictions.

NP572 is a high strength, medium weave glass epoxy laminate that retains a minimum of 50 percent of its room temperature flexural strength when tested at 150ºC and its Tg is guaranteed to be 180°C or greater. Typical applications include electrical equipment subjected to elevated temperatures. NP572 is certifiable to IEC 60216-3, IEEE STD 98-2002 and ASTM D2304 for Class H insulation in electrical devices. NP572 is also certifiable to MIL-I-24768/3, Type GEB.

Grade MC320LE is a fine weave bleached cotton phenolic composite that has excellent machining characteristics and low moisture absorption. Applications include marine applications, terminal boards and parts requiring medium strength and excellent electrical characteristics. MC320LE meets or exceeds the requirements of MIL-I-24768/13 and ASMT F2953-12 Type FB. Certification to IEC standard is pending.
