In 1908, Morris Brown came across a stranded farmer in Bremen, Indiana. When Morris stopped to help, the farmer trusted Morris to take his peppermint oil to market and sell it. Their agreement was sealed with nothing more than a handshake.

Morris soon realized the value and varied uses of mint oil, and The Lebermuth Company (originally M. Brown & Sons) was born.
