- Suitable for low energy processing.
- Background
Our shea-based liquid emollients offer all the moisturizing benefits of traditional shea butter with improved skin feel and greater versatility. In addition, they have been shown to save both time and energy in the formulation process, making them ideal for creating more eco-friendly products.
- Key Features and Benefits
- LIPEX® SheaLiquid™ TR is one of our climate-compensated shea products, which means we have calculated and offset emissions with Gold Standard and Fairtrade carbon credits generated by a FairClimate Fund cookstove project in Burkina Faso that funds climate action in the shea supply base and directly improves the lives of local communities.
- LIPEX® SheaLiquid™ TR is produced using only shea kernels from a segregated supply chain, fully traceable to the AAK Kolo Nafaso direct sourcing program in West Africa. Therefore meeting consumer demand for socially responsible ingredients.
- The triterpene content in the unsaponifiables and linoleic acid deliver skin moisturizing and soothing benefits.
- The liquid, pumpable format means LIPEX® SheaLiquid™ TR can be incorporated easily into formulations.

Technical Details & Test Data
- Sensory Profile
A controlled laboratory-scale trial showed that liquid shea saves up to 50% energy and takes 30% less production time than solid shea butter. The study compared hot processing of a body lotion made with 6% solid shea butter and low-temperature processing of the same formulation using 6% liquid shea. A sensory evaluation triangle test confirmed no significant differences between the two final formulations.
Energy consumption (kWh/kg)
Low temperature processing =
30% reduction in total processing time and
40% reduction in the final cooling step
Storage & Handling
- Storage & Shelf Life
Lipex SheaLiquid™ TR should be stored in dark, dry and odor free conditions. Recommended storage temperature is 15- 20°C or below.
When stored in unopened original container according to recommended storage conditions, the recommended maximum storage time in drums is two years and in plastic cans one year from the production date. Within this time Lipex SheaLiquid™ TR fulfills the shelf life specification.
