Andisil® 186 Silane

1 of 500 products in this brand
Andisil® 186 Silane is used in a variety of industrial applications. Organofunctional Silanes have an organic functional end group and an alkoxy functional end group which allow the silane to act as a bridge between organic materials and inorganic substrates. The organic functional group is matched to the resin system while the alkoxy group provides the reactive site for crosslinking. These materials are useful as adhesion promoters, crosslinking agents, surface modifiers and hydrophobizing agents.

Functions: Anti-Marring Agent, Coupling Agent, Crosslinking Agent, Slip Control Agent, Water Repellent

Chemical Family: Epoxy & Epoxy Derivatives, Silanes

Compatible Polymers & Resins: Epoxies (EP), Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR), Phenolic Resins, Polyamides, Polycarbonates (PC), Polyesters, Silicones

Applications & Uses

Applications
  • Epoxy functional silane used as an adhesion promoter (coupling agent) for organic/inorganic interfaces, as a surface modifier (e.g. regulating surface polarity) or as a crosslinking agent (moisture-curing of polymers)
  • When used as coupling agent, it generally reduces the sensitivity of the products’ mechanical and electrical properties to heat and/ or moisture
  • Soluble in water after hydrolysis, alcohol, acetone and most aliphatic esters at normal application levels under five percent.
  • Hydrolysis releases
