Hemp (Cannibis sativa L) seeds contain all essential amino acids and essential fatty acids, as well as protein, which is 65% globulin edistin (a globular, biologically active protein). The outer hulls are removed, leaving soft inner kernels, also known as hemp hearts. To be eaten ‘as-is’, added to smoothies, stirred into yogurt, sprinkled onto salads, and even used as a substitute for breadcrumbs to coat chicken or fish. Seeds are also pressed to produce hemp seed oil. This process creates a residual seed meal which is then turned into hemp protein powder. Abbott Blackstone Hemp Powder is 50% protein by volume.
