N Tense® is a specialized utility modifier that acts as a water conditioner and water buffer that widens the conditions under which glyphosate products are useful while maintaining the integrity of the spray diluent (water). N Tense does not modify or enhance the physical or chemical characteristics of glyphosate or other products. Conditions that allow for wider use include optimizing the pH of well, river or dug out water, minimizing calcium caking in sprayers and buffering spray water to keep the “herbicide active ingredient intact”.

Applications & Uses

Application Technique
Application Rates

For applicators who traditionally use a water conditioner/pH adjuster/buffering agent (to help with water from dugouts/ponds/wells, rivers)

N Tense use rates are 0.25 – 1 liter per 100 liters of water. Use a higher rate for large, hardened-off weeds or under dusty conditions.

Other Uses

The addition of a water conditioner/pH adjuster can also widen the conditions of use to some pesticides or pesticide tank mix combinations. N Tense when added to spray water, may be applied by ground or aerial spray equipment. For most applications, use enough N Tense solution to allow for uniform wetting and deposition of the spray onto leaf surfaces without undue runoff. For additional drift control, add DriftKnot to the spray solution. Consult the DriftKnot label for directions.

Mixing

Prior to application, all spray mixing and application equipment must be thoroughly cleaned. Custodian Tank cleaner is recommended. Follow Label. Also, carefully observe all cleaning directions on the pesticide label.

  1. Fill spray tank one-half full. Use clean water and begin agitation.
  2. Add water conditioner/pH adjuster N Tense at 0.25 – 1%v/v or 0.25 to 1 liter per 100 liters of spray solution.
  3. When using dry products, such as Suphonyl urea or Imidazalone herbicides, add them to the spray tank before N Tense.
  4. Allow time to thoroughly agitate and add the required rate of glyphosate herbicide per hectare (or acre) as per label directions.
  5. Continue agitation and complete filling of the spray tank.
  6. Allow a few minutes for proper mixing ahead of application.

A 10 liter container will treat 40 hectares or 100 acres at the 100 ml/acre rate (0.5%v/v) in 50 L/Ha or 5.0 gallons/acre of spray solution.

Technical Details & Test Data

Four Main Reasons for Using N Tense

Reason #1: Hard Water Inactivation

  • Calcium, magnesium and iron (and many other metal ions) in spray water (hard water) bind with glyphosate. and Glufosinate
  • Result: (Gyphosate-calcium) or (Glufosinate-Calcium) molecule is inactive as a herbicide and not mobile in the plant. Glyphosate / Glufosinate is wasted.
  • N Tense® Chelates calcium and magnesium (and other ions) preventing glyphosate / glufosinate inactivation.

N Tense water conditioner

  • Patented
  • University tested
  • Works with many herbicides and all glyphosates including non formulated
  • Low use rate: (50 to 100 ml in 5 gpa)

Reason #2: Water Conditioned Performance

  • Superior control on the widest range of weed species.
  • More into weeds: less tied up or inactivated.
  • Faster glyphosate absorption: rainfast performance.
  • Result: Improved herbicide performance.

Reason #3: Tough To Control Weeds

  • Some tough weeds contain high levels of calcium and magnesium; example, Common Lambsquarters.
  • The inactivating ions in tough weeds are in the wax covering on the leaves as well as in the cells just under the leaf surface.
  • Result: N Tense® will prevent glyphosate from becoming inactivated and immobilized by tough weeds.

N Tense® - Four Main Reasons For Using N Tense

Reason #4: Dust And Dusty Weeds

  • Dust created by the sprayer at the time of application or dust blown onto the leaf surface of the weeds acts like Hard Water to inactivate some or most of the glyphosate immediately upon contact.
  • Result: Glyphosate is inactivated; poor performance; inconsistent performance, weed control misses across the field.
  • N Tense® prevents or reduces the impact of dust allowing glyphosate to kill weeds.
