- Product Properties
AFCONA – 2524 is a silicone based defoamer specially developed for all kind of water-based systems. It can be used in systems with PVC 0 – 25% and is also suitable for emulsions based on a combination of acrylic and polyurethane.
The advantages of AFCONA – 2524 are:
1) Very easy to incorporate under low shear forces where it will not cause any craters and will not affect the leveling properties of the coating.
2) Next to the good defoaming properties it also works as a good leveling agent. According to the theory adding defoamers normally will affect the leveling and adding leveling agents will cause foaming. Therefore, Afcona 2524 is the perfect balance between defoaming and leveling. If in some cases the leveling is still not sufficient, a small amount of AFCONA - 3570 or AFCONA - 3522 can be added.
3) Will not affect the color acceptance of the system.
