Product Properties

AFCONA-5009 is an economy grade of additive for pigment dispersion. It reduces the interfacial tension between pigments or extenders and the vehicle. It stabilizes the pigments through electrical charge repulsion forces.

AFCONA – 5009 has below special properties and recommended in below systems:
1) AFCONA – 5009 is a very compatible polymer. It can be used in all resin systems, ranging from none polar to high polar systems.
2) Often, AFCONA – 5009 is used in primer and some decorative paint. It also widely used in marine and heavy duty paints as these paint systems do not require very high gloss finishing and the chemical and physical properties are more important than the appearance.
3) Using AFCONA – 5009 will also decreased pigment sedimentation, because it will induce hydrogen bond formation in the system. However, for better antisettling products like AFCONA – 5066 and AFCONA – 5071 will perform much better.
4) AFCONA – 5009 are best in long oil, medium oil, short oil, NC, TPA, Acid curing, polyurethane and epoxy system.

Note: AFCONA – 5009 will become slightly hazy at temperatures below 5° C. It will form crystallization if store at temperature below 2C. Upon reheat, this will not influence the quality.
