Features & Benefits

Product Properties

AFCONA-5071 helps to prevent interfacial tension between the hydrophilic pigments/extenders and the binders and stabilized the pigments through electrical charge repulsion forces.
AFCONA – 5071 has below special properties and recommended in below systems:
1) The main reason for using AFCONA- 5071 in the formulation is anti-settling and anti-sagging properties.
2) It mainly used for inorganic pigments and extenders in water- based coatings.
AFCONA-5071 also is suitable for solventbased coatings, where AFCONA-5071 is selected due to the good anti-settling performance.
3) Compared to other type of anti-settling agents, it also gives wetting and dispersing properties and will not influence or reduce the gloss of the system.
4) AFCONA-5071 is suitable for use in low to high-polar solvent systems as well as waterbased coatings. It can be used to reduce flooding and settling in non-polar systems e.g. air drying alkyd paints.
5) Combination of AFCONA-5071 and
AFCONA-4560 is very effective to disperse inorganic pigments and fillers, where this dispersion leave standing in very dilute viscosity, such as F#4 cup at 8 – 12 second, for many hours without stirring. Soft settling will form but will not have separation (depending on the particles size of the filler, more than 15μm may have separation) as well as hard settling. The ratio between them is 3:1 (AFCONA-4560 : AFCONA-5071).
Note: AFCONA – 5071 will become slightly hazy at temperatures below 5° C. This will not influence the quality.
