Applications & Uses

Applications

Liquid Application:

  • Maize/ Wholecrop/ High Dry Matter Grass:
    • 100g sachet treats 20 tons.
    • Dissolve contents of sachet in 40 liters of water and apply at 2 liters per ton.
  • Crimped Grain:
    • 100g sachet treats 10 tons.
    • Dissolve contents of sachet in 50 liters of water and apply at 5 liters per ton.

Granular Application:

  • Maize/ Wholecrop/ High Dry Matter Grass:
    • 500g per ton.
  • Crimped Grain:
    • 1kg per ton.
Harvesting
  • Target dry matter for Maize is 32-35% and wholecrop 35-60% with a chop length of 3-5cm.
  • Avoid leaving frosted maize too long in the field as yeasts and molds grow on the leaves impairing digestibility.
  • Roll clamp continuously during harvest.
Crimped Grain
  • Aim for 35-45% moisture content.
  • Minimize delays between harvest and crimping.
  • Add additional water if grains are dry.
General Clamp Guidelines
  • Minimize aerobic spoilage by side sheeting always double sheeting the clamp, using a vacuum barrier film sheet as the underlayer.
  • Cover top sheet with Zill mesh cover and sandbags to protect from birds.
  • Use a net over the face if birds are a nuisance.
  • Control vermin to avoid losses and damage.
  • Minimize face area opened at any time.
  • Never pull the sheet down over the clamp face once the clamp is opened.
  • Scrape down the clamp face to avoid air ingress.
