The StruXell has two originalities: it is made of composite materials and it has large cells. If the first concept is easy to explain, the second is much less so. What is a large cell? You can define diameters, you can relate thickness to diameter, or you can just say that's what others don't.
Why use composite materials to make the honeycomb? The answer is simple: we have several variables that allow us to adapt to all situations:
- The type of resin that will give the physical properties to the honeycomb,
- The family of reinforcing fibers which will give the main mechanical properties,
- The organization of the fibers as well as the orientation of the latter to adjust these mechanical properties.

- This is the only solution to take advantage of the above ... However, this leads to a little complexity in the calculation of the sandwich structures and in particular at the level of the skin / honeycomb junction. Currently we are offering the StruXell with 32, 80 and 150mm diameter cells. 50mm cells will soon be added to the family.The thickness of the walls is also an important variable, but if it offers a lot of possibilities at the design level, the realization can be quite tricky. Indeed, several manufacturing methods are used to produce StruXell but only one of them allows to modify the thickness of the walls. For the other methods, the thickness being fixed by the geometry of the tool, we have no possible option on this parameter. Nevertheless, the choice of materials gives us enormous resources to come up with practical and economically viable solutions.

- The StruXell prefers imposing structures and highly loaded, like floors of road vehicles or railway, structures for ships, civil works etc.
- The StruXell was the subject of a patent filing on the concept of honeycomb large cell for structural applications.
