BECKOCURE® EH 2261w/41WA

1 of 4 products in this brand
BECKOCURE® EH 2261w/41WA is a hydrophobic amine hardener specifically crafted for formulating waterborne metal coatings. It stands out for being free of volatile basic amines and solvents. When paired with epoxy dispersions, it enables the swift development of fast-drying primers and monocoats. These coatings showcase excellent corrosion protection and impressive non-sagging properties. Notably, they exhibit strong adhesion on untreated, smooth, or galvanized steel substrates. This hardener serves the function of a hardener, finds applications in waterborne coatings, particularly in the automotive OEM coatings sector, and is designed for use in primer and waterborne coating types.

Distinguishing Features

BECKOCURE® EH 2261w is more reactive than BECKOPOX™ EH 2188 and provides a much better anticorrosion protection on untreated, smooth or galvanized steel substrates. Especially in combination with BECKOPOX™ EP 2384 very fast drying anticorrosion Primers and Monocoats can be formulated.

Applications & Uses

Compatible Substrates & Surfaces
Special Properties and Uses
  • Hydrophobic amine hardener especially for the formulation of waterborne metal coatings, free of volatile basic amines and solvents. In combination with epoxy dispersions fast drying Primers and Monocoats with excellent corrosion protection and very good non-sagging properties can be formulated, which show good adhesion on untreated, smooth or galvanized steel substrates.
  • The product shows excellent application behavior and a very robust performance even on poorly prepared surfaces.
Suggested Uses and Processing Information

BECKOCURE® EH 2261w is used together with solid epoxy resin dispersions or emulsified liquid resins. Best results are obtained using 50-75% of the stoichiometric amount of hardener. The films cure rapidly at room temperature but can also be dried at elevated temperatures.

Grinding of the pigments can be done in BECKOCURE® EH 2261w or as well in shear stable epoxy dispersions (e. g.: BECKOPOX™ EP 2384w, BECKOPOX™ EP 386, BECKOPOX™ EP 387 or BECKOPOX™ VEP 2381w). The mill base temperature should not exceed 40°C. The use of binder-free pigment pastes is recommended when the grinding temperature cannot be controlled. Dilution can be done with BECKOCURE® EH 2261w or an epoxy dispersion.

MIXING RATIO AND POT LIFE

A blend of 75.0g BECKOPOX™ EP 2384w/57WA 110.0g BECKOCURE® EH 2261w/41WA 12.0g deionized water (=100% of the stoichiometric amount of hardener) has a processing time of approx. 60 minutes at 23°C. The end of pot life cannot be seen by a sharp increase of viscosity or gelation. Therefeore it is necessary to use the paint within the stated time limit. Addition of coalescing solvents can elongate the usable time.
