Features & Benefits

Benefits
  • reduces energy requirements
  • no decrease in electrocoat bath stability
  • high electrical resistivity
  • improves resistance properties
  • organic (hydrocarbon) solvent soluble
Special Properties

CYCAT 500 catalyst is a strong sulfonic acid catalyst which catalyzes the curing reaction between carboxyl, hydroxyl and amide functional groups with alkylated melamine formaldehyde and urea formaldehyde crosslinking agents.

Applications & Uses

Use Level
0.5 – 5.0% solid binder
Suggested Uses

CYCAT 500 catalyst is recommended for use in electrocoating applications to achieve cures in the range of 110 - 135 °C in 15 to 30 minutes, or to reduce the baking time at higher baking temperatures. CYCAT 500 catalyst is also recommended for coatings applied by other application techniques, providing improved adhesion and resistance properties compared with other sulfonic acid type catalysts.

Dosage: 1 - 3 % on solid resin

Suggested Applications
  • Primers
  • Electrocoat
  • Coil coating finishes
  • High solids systems
  • Electrostatic spray systems
