Handling & Applications

The general application information presented here is based upon typical conditions determined by Alpha Adhesives & Sealants Limited testing. Our recommendations on the use of this product are based on methods believed to be reliable. It is advised that users conduct their own tests to determine the suitability of the product for their specific application.

Surface Preparation

The strength and durability of the bond is dependent on proper surface treatment of the tire surfaces to be bonded. The tire surface should be buffed and cleaned prior to application of the adhesive. All surfaces to be bonded should be dry, clean and free from dust, grit, wax, grease or oil before hand.

Adhesive Application

A2024 can be applied using a conventional air assisted spray gun system that must not contain any brass or copper parts. The A2024 adhesive should be applied evenly to the tire, ensuring that no runs or drips are present. Drips or runs slow down the drying process. The tire is ready to retread when the adhesive film has completely changed from white to clear with no white specks present. If the tire is retreaded when white specks are present the new tread will blow at the points where there was water present.

Curing

Bonded assemblies should be left for 7 days before physical testing is conducted.

Cleaning

For wet material, it is advised that any spillages be cleaned up immediately with soapy water before the adhesive can fully dry.
