When elastomeric or rubber components are used in a frequently or continuously wet environment, the dissolved copper and other metal ion particles in water attack the components causing premature aging and degradation leading to early failures and replacement of parts. Altera’s proprietary blend of ingredients creates a synergistic effect to slow this aging.

While there are materials available on the market that include similar packages, they are typically only available pre-compounded into the TPV or TPE resins, preventing customization for more demanding applications. Altera Polymers’ EL-91106 Metal Deactivation package allows molders the flexibility to increase (or decrease) usage based upon the specific requirements for each application. Also, as a value-added benefit, Altera Polymers can provide this product as a custom color-matched concentrate, suited to OEM demands. This helps reduce color variability and material handling for molders.
