Dermol 489 is a highly branched low molecular weight ester. This nonlinearity allows it to exhibit unique characteristics such as extremely low freeze point, low viscosity, good penetrating power without oiliness, excellent solubility and compatibility in a variety of ingredients such as esters, volatile silicones, mineral oil and vegetable oils. The unique properties of Dermol 489 lend themselves for use in numerous cosmetic applications; for example, skin toners, bath oils, light creams and lotions. Dermol 489 acts as a replacement for volatile silicones in antiperspirants where it reduces tackiness and prevents clogging in aerosols and as a resin plasticizer in hair sprays. In addition, it is useful in dispersing aid for carbopol powder.
