- Trivent NP-13 is a colorless, very dry non-comedogenic emollient ester with a slightly mild odor. Test results show that use of this ester in organic sunscreen formulations can boost SPF as much as 40%. In formulations containing Titanium Dioxide, Trivent NP-13 has been used as a dispersing agent to reduce whitening.
- Trivent NP-13 has also been used as a binder and pigment dispersant and as a plasticizer with hair setting polymers. Other applications include use as a cosolvent for oils and waxes in anhydrous stick formulations. The ester should be tried in creams and lotions where a dry or non-oily feel is required. It is an effective wetting agent for Carbopol accelerating the dispersing phase in the production process. It is a synthetic ester and could be considered in oil-free systems. Trivent NP-13 compatible with a wide range of cosmetic raw materials including cyclomethicone.
