The United States Department of Defense invented molecularly bonded tungsten disulfide lubricants to prevent metal galling and seizure. Thin film Tungsten Disulfide coatings have proven to be effective in a wide range of applications over time, including motor parts, pump parts, vanes, pins, rods, bearings, slides, cams, bushings, sprockets, gears, dies, drive train parts, injection molds, and saw blades. Once the coating is applied, there is very little dimensional change, so part dimensions do not need to be re-engineered.
