Product Highlights

A double action rust converter and steel primer intended to give long term protection against corrosion when suitably over coated. This product converts existing adherent rust to a hard, non-reactive complex and then lays over this a layer of resin and pigment ready to receive any single pack top coat. Convert OI is a single pot product which is non-flammable and water rinsable. This eliminates most common handling hazards and problems. Convert OI provides rapid reaction and long-term protection and will be welcomed by painters, engineering maintenance companies, vehicle repairers, ship repairers, etc.

Features and Benefits
  • One Product: Eliminates any difficulties with mixing etc. also reduces handling hazards.
  • Clear Completion: Color change white to blue/black indicates the completion of convertion therefore easy to see any undone patches.
  • Long Term Protection: Coating can last for years and years saving time and money spent on maintenance.
  • Value For Money: A cheaper alternative to sandblasting adding a corrosion inhibitor and primer in one simple operation.

Application

Airless spray, conventional spray or brush may be used although, on rougher surfaces, application by stiff brush is best, to encourage thorough penetration. Apply when air and substrate temperatures are between 5ºC and 30ºC and the humidity is between 40 and 90%.  In very dry conditions, mist the substrate with water immediately before application.  See our Technical Guidance sheet for more details. Drying times at 20ºC and 50%RH are touch dry in 2 hours, hard in 4 hours. Overcoating may be done after 8 hours for water-based media and after 24 hours for solvent-based media/ The drying times above are in the conditions stated. In general, lower temperatures delay curing.
