- Characteristics
AQUAFIN-IC contains waterproofing chemicals that react with moisture and free lime of the concrete creating crystalline particles that they seal the capillary system and minor cracks caused by shrinkage. These chemicals penetrate to become an integral part of the concrete for waterproof against hydrostatic forces powerful. The chemicals are kept active by the life of the structure sealing permanently against water penetration. AQUAFIN-IC is not a membrane and sometimes takes up to a month to reach capacity maximum of waterproofing. Factors such as ambient temperature, concrete density, present moisture and meteorological conditions can influence the timing of the sealing procedure. During dry conditions the chemicals from AQUAFIN-IC remain inactive but reactivate when exposed to moisture. After its application and time to cure the AQUAFIN-IC subsequently seals cracks in shrinkage up to 1/64” (0.4 mm). Concrete treated with AQUAFIN-IC is very resistant to the most aggressive substances, contact constant of ph 4 - 11 and periodic contact of ph 2 - 12. - Substrate Preparation
The surface must be in good conditions, clean and with sufficient porosity to ensure adherence to the surface and allow the penetration of AQUAFIN-IC chemicals. Horizontal surfaces must have a brush or wood float finish. smooth surfaces and non-porous must be roughened to ensure adherence of AQUAFIN-IC. 1.Clean the surface well to remove dirt, cement grout, oil, chemicals curing, loose particles, paints, and other contaminants. To clean use pressurized sand wet or dry, high pressure wash 4,000 psi (275 bar) adjusted for concrete strength, or other mechanical methods. 2.Remove rafters or protruding materials by cutting below the concrete surface. - How To Mix
The mixing ratio is: by volume: 3 parts powder with 1 part water. 50 lb powder with 1.5 - 1.9 gallons of water (22.7 kg powder with 6.1 - 7.3 liters of water). Add the AQUAFIN-IC powder to the water and shake well until the mixture is completely free of dry heaps. You only mix the amount of material you can use in 30 minutes. AQUAFIN-IC is must mix by drilling or other mechanical method. Use clean water. Blend to a consistency of thick paint. Use a container to measure the powder and one for water. - Application
AQUAFIN-IC should not be applied if the temperature is below 40oF (5o C) or to a surface that is frozen. It should not be applied to a dry surface. HORIZONTAL SURFACES AND JOINTS CONSTRUCTION A. Method of applying dry spray, mechanical flat or flat wood (float wood): A dry spray test is recommended. before the current application. When the concrete is ready to pass the mechanical flat sprays the specified amount of dry AQUAFIN-IC. This can be done at hand or with a suitable spray and then pass the flat or floats to space the AQUAFIN-IC even. Keep passing the plane or it floats in its normal way. B. Sub Slabs / Tied Slabs / Construction Joints: Before throwing a new slab against another or by on top of another slab wets the existing surface and apply AQUAFIN-IC as a grout or spray dry. C. Application by brush or spray: NOTE: The surface of the slab must be porous with a wooden fleet finish or brush. Applies one coat in the specified amount of AQUAFIN-IC in grout consistency. VERTICAL SURFACES AND JOINTS CONSTRUCTION A. Application by brush: Apply two coats in the specified amount of AQUAFIN-IC in grout consistency. Use a typical mason's brush watering the material evenly. apply the second hand before the first coat to dry. B. Spray Application: AQUAFIN-IC can be applied with equipment compressed air sprayer manufactured for spray mortar. Apply in one or two coats according to specifications using a circular movement. apply the second hand before the first coat to dry.,/p>
- Decoration, Paint, Coating
Surfaces to be painted must be cured by a minimum of 4 weeks. At the end of the period of cure saturate the surface with water and then neutralize with muriatic acid solution diluted 1:8. The surface should then be thoroughly rinsed with water. If surfaces treated with AQUAFIN-IC it is necessary to apply a coat of cement and sand plaster before applying the end coating.
