- Product Highlights
Cotton is a large shrubby plant belonging to the family of Malvaceae, Gossypium species. It is a very old plant that finds its origins in the Indian subcontinent and in the tropical and subtropical regions of Africa and Americas. The plant has large leaves and flowers usually of pale-yellow color and fruits which, once ripe, open in 3-5 lodges, showing the seeds wrapped in a white and gray down. Known mainly for being the source of the most widely used textile fiber in the world, this plant also gives origin to precious cosmetic ingredients. In particular, its extract has a good concentration of phenolic compounds, among which tannins and flavonoids stand out. These components act as anti-inflammatory and antibacterial, reducing irritations caused by aggressive external agents. They also exert an antioxidant action, protecting the skin from the negative effects of free radicals.
- Benefits for Formulators
Cotton extract enhances the antioxidant action against the damage caused by free radicals, improving the well-being of the skin. Its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties help to soothe irritations and redness, as well as ensuring a focus treatment for impure and delicate skin.
