The Arichem STB-FR PC formulation below has been shown to meet Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 94 V0 _x001f_ame retardant (FR) requirements at a specimen thickness of 3.2 mm (1/8”). The formulation uses Te_x001f_on (or PTFE) as a drip suppressant. Other drip suppressants may also achieve the same UL 94 V0 test results.
Formulation Component Loading % Polycarbonate (3 MFI homopolymer) 99.4 Arichem STB-FR 0.5 PTFE 0.1 UL 94 V0 @ 3.2mm Pass Arichem STB-FR provides FR performance at fractional loading levels or at less than 1% by weight in the PC formulation. It may be helpful to produce and utilize Arichem STB-FR in concentrate form to improve dispersion into the PC matrix.
