Application Method
Preparation

Surfaces must be clean, dry, and sound; contaminants such as dirt, dust, grease, wax, oils, soap film, mold & mildew, bond breakers, curing compounds, and loose, peeling paint must be removed before priming or painting. Remove all mildew by scrubbing with a solution of 16 oz bleach to one gallon water. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry 24 hours before coating.

Application

For exterior use only.

  • Protective clothing, gloves, and eyewear should be used during application of this product. Always apply on a clear, warm sunny day.
  • Premix individual components (A and B) separately before combining. Then, in a separate pail, mix Part A and Part B in equal amounts.
  • Use a mechanical drill to ensure proper mixing.
  • Once mixed, product must be used within 30 minutes. Pot life 2 hours at 75 °F.
  • Dry to touch in 1 hour, full cure 24 hours.
  • Apply in morning hours to allow maximum cure time.
  • Application should be completed a minimum of 4 hours prior to sunset. Surface temperatures must be between 50 °F and 130 °F.
  • Apply with long nap (3/4” to 1”) exterior paint roller for porous surfaces like concrete block and use a short nap (1/4” to 3/8”) for smooth surfaces like metal. This product should not be spray applied.
  • Tool Application : Brush or roller
Application Rate

Apply pre-mixed primer at 1/4 gallon per square and allow to cure. Additional coats may be requires depending on age and condition of existing substrate. Allow a minimum of 2 hours between coats if required. Allow primer to fully cure a minimum of 24 hours before applying AP-585 Silicone Coating. Note: Existing substrates, materials and age of asphalt (cutback, SBS, APP, hot mop, etc) and may result in some discoloration over time. This does not affect weatherability of silicone.

Clean-up : Clean tools with paint thinner or mineral spirits
